Orioles 10, Padres 3

Chris Davis belted a three-run homer to snap a tie in the eighth inning and J.J. Hardy also went deep and drove in three runs as visiting Baltimore completed a sweep of an abbreviated two-game interleague series.

San Diego native Adam Jones followed his series-opening 4-for-4 performance with three hits - including an RBI single in the fourth inning. Manny Machado matched Jones by driving in a run and scoring twice for the Orioles, who stayed 1 1/2 games behind Texas for the second wild card spot in the American League.

With the contest knotted at 3-3, Luke Gregerson (5-6) relieved starter Eric Stults to begin the eighth inning and promptly allowed singles to Machado and Jones. Gregerson departed and Davis greeted Colt Hynes by depositing his first-pitch slider over the right-center field wall for his major league-leading 41st homer - and fourth in eight games.

The mammoth 453-foot blast made a winner of Francisco Rodriguez (1-0), who replaced starter Miguel Gonzalez and struck out a pair in his one inning of work.

Jedd Gyorko belted a three-run homer to forge a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning for the Padres, who have dropped four of six.
