J.J. Hardy and Adam Jones each homered as visiting Baltimore scored all of its runs over the final four innings to win the rubber match of the three-game interleague series.
The Giants led 2-0 before Brian Roberts led off the sixth with a triple and scored on Nate McLouth's single. Baltimore pulled ahead in the seventh as Chris Davis hit a leadoff double over Gregor Blanco’s head in center field before Hardy belted his 21st shot off Matt Cain (7-8), who yielded three runs over seven frames.
Troy Patton (2-0) notched the win after tossing a scoreless sixth inning for Baltimore, which climbed within 4 1/2 games of first-place Boston Red Sox in the American League East and 1 1/2 of the second wild-card spot.
The Orioles padded their lead with four runs in the eighth on three hits and a costly error by reliever Jose Mijares. Jones delivered an RBI double during the rally and added a three-run blast off Barry Zito in the ninth to help Baltimore win for the fourth time in five games.
Brandon Belt and Hunter Pence each doubled in a run in the first to give the Giants an early lead, but Bud Norris settled in and allowed three hits over the next four innings. San Francisco matched a season high by falling 13 games under .500 at 52-65.
