Rookie Anthony Rendon had three hits and Jordan Zimmermann won his 11th game as host Washington captured its fifth victory in the past seven games.
Zimmermann (11-3) became the National League’s first 11-game winner, allowing two first-inning runs but nothing else on three hits in seven innings. Ryan Zimmerman’s double-play grounder in the fifth scored Denard Span to snap a 2-2 tie and Rafael Soriano pitched the ninth for his 21st save.
Arizona starter Wade Miley (4-7) pitched well in defeat, allowing three runs on seven hits in seven innings. Paul Goldschmidt and Martin Prado drove in first-inning runs for the Diamondbacks, who lost their third in a row.
The Nationals pulled within 2-1 in the first on Zimmerman’s double to left, scoring Rendon. Tyler Moore’s solo homer to center off with two outs off Miley in the fourth tied the score at 2..
Zimmerman finished 2-for-3 for Washington. The Diamondbacks wound up with just four hits.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Rendon, who flew out to the warning track in left in the eighth, finished 3-for-4 and is hitting .392 since being recalled from Triple-A on June 4. … Goldschmidt went 1-for-3 with a double, driving in his NL-leading 67th RBI. … Zimmermann’s last loss at home came on May 17, 2012, against Pittsburgh.
