Tigers 7, Braves 4

Omar Infante went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBIs to power host Detroit to its second straight victory over Atlanta.

Jhonny Peralta also had a two-run shot and Miguel Cabrera added a pair of hits and two RBIs to back 6 1/3 solid innings from Tigers starter Rick Porcello (1-2), who allowed three runs on five hits after lasting only two-thirds of an inning in his previous start.

Justin Upton clubbed his major league-leading 12th homer and Freddie Freeman had two hits and an RBI for the Braves, who tumbled to their sixth defeat in eight games. Kris Medlen (1-3) allowed five runs on a career-worst 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Porcello bounced back from a shaky three-run third inning by retiring 11 of 12 batters and his final eight before giving way to Drew Smyly. Joaquin Benoit served up the two-out homer in the eighth to Upton before Jose Valverde worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save.

Cabrera tied it at 3-3 with an infield single in the bottom of the third before Infante delivered his first homer in the fourth to put Detroit on top to stay at 5-3. Upton's blast cut the lead to one but the Tigers added two insurance runs on Infante's RBI double and Cabrera's run-scoring single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cabrera had his sixth multi-hit game during a current 11-game hitting streak to boost his batting average to .370. ... Upton needs two more homers to tie the major-league record for the most in April. His 12th blast of 2012 came on Sept. 1. ... Medlen gave up more than five hits only once in his 12 starts last year.
