Brian McCann hit a three-run homer for the second straight game while Mike Minor yielded two singles in seven innings to power host Atlanta to its sixth straight victory.

Freddie Freeman matched a career high with four hits and drove in two runs while Chris Johnson registered his sixth straight multi-hit game as the Braves widened their lead in the National League East to 11 games over Washington. Minor (11-5) struck out six in winning for the third time in four starts.

Tyler Chatwood (7-4), who had won three of four outings, yielded a career-high eight runs (seven earned) and 10 hits in 2 1/3 innings. He departed after allowing an RBI single to Minor which was part of a seven-run frame - the third straight game Atlanta batted around - that gave the Braves an 8-0 lead.

Atlanta, which has scored 29 runs in the first three contests of the four-game series, took a 1-0 lead on Freeman's run-scoring single in the first inning. Freeman, who homered twice and had four RBIs in Tuesday's 11-3 victory, began the uprising in the third with an RBI hit and scored on McCann's blast.

Johnson, who has an NL-best .342 batting average, knocked in Freeman with an infield single in the fourth inning to make it 9-0. Jason Heyward and rookie Evan Gattis also drove in runs as the Braves improved to a major league-best 37-15 at home and 27-7 against Colorado in Atlanta since 2003.

The Braves registered six or more runs in an inning in three straight games for the first time since 1900 when the franchise was located in Boston, according to Elias Sports Bureau. ...
