Carl Crawford drove in two runs and Chris Capuano worked into the seventh inning as Los Angeles set a franchise record with its 13th consecutive road win.
Capuano (4-6) allowed six hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings, and Kenley Jansen worked a perfect ninth for his 16th save. Los Angeles has won 30 of its last 37 games to move 4 1/2 games ahead of Arizona in the National League West.
The Dodgers pulled ahead in the third when Yasiel Puig reached on a bunt single off Jeff Samardzija (6-10), moved to third on Andre Ethier’s single and scored on Jerry Hairston Jr.’s infield single. Samardzija yielded three runs with nine strikeouts while issuing five walks over six frames.
Samardzija ran into trouble again in the sixth when Skip Schumaker drew a leadoff walk and Tim Federowicz doubled before Crawford connected for a two-run single. The Dodgers' 13th straight road win broke the franchise mark set by the Brooklyn Robins in 1924.
Cole Gillespie had two hits for the Cubs, who have lost six of their last seven games. Chicago loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth before Paco Rodriguez struck out Welington Castillo on a full count to end the inning.
