Indians 5, Rangers 2
Corey Kluber allowed one run and six hits over eight innings as visiting Cleveland beat Texas to snap an eight-game losing streak.
Drew Stubbs had a two-run single and Nick Swisher and Mark Reynolds added run-scoring singles as the Indians halted a 12-game road losing skid.
Kluber (4-4) held the Rangers scoreless until David Murphy recorded a run-scoring double with two out in the eighth. Joe Smith allowed a ninth-inning homer to A.J. Pierzynski before finishing Cleveland’s fifth victory in the last 21 games.
Reynolds’ fourth-inning single got the Indians on the board. Cleveland added three runs in the fifth on Stubbs’ hit against Derek Holland and Swisher’s single, and the Indians added a run in the seventh when Jason Kipnis scored on a wild pitch by Kyle McClellan.
Holland (5-3) allowed four runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. He had won four consecutive decisions.
