Justin Masterson tossed 7 2/3 solid innings to outduel Yu Darvish and Michael Bourn homered to lead off the first as host Cleveland recorded its third straight victory.
After permitting just three hits in his last two outings, Masterson (12-7) allowed five and struck out eight before departing in the eighth following a two-out single by Nelson Cruz.
Joe Smith induced Adrian Beltre to fly out to end the threat. Chris Perez retired the side in order in the ninth to secure his 14th save and send the Rangers to their third straight loss and 11th in 14 games.
After belting his first career grand slam in the Indians' 10-1 triumph over Seattle on Wednesday, Bourn continued his power display in the first inning. Bourn belted a 1-0 cutter from Darvish (9-5) just over the wall in right field for his fourth homer this season - and eighth RBI in three games.
Darvish suffered the hard-luck loss despite striking out 11 and scattering three hits over six innings. The right-hander ran up his pitch count by issuing four walks.
