Nick Franklin and Michael Saunders each homered and had two RBIs as visiting Seattle defeated Cincinnati in the opener of a three-game series.
Aaron Harang (4-7) allowed two runs and six hits in six innings to win for the first time since June 11. Harang is 3-0 in three career starts against the Reds, the team he pitched for from 2003-10.
Oliver Perez struck out the side in the ninth for his second career save.
Brad Miller led off the game with a triple against Cincinnati starter Mike Leake (7-4) and Franklin followed with a two-run homer to right field. Saunders hit a leadoff blast to right in the second and added a fourth-inning sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.
Shin-Soo Choo hit a run-scoring double in the fifth to get the Reds on the board. Joey Votto added a booming 443-foot homer to center field in the sixth before three Seattle relievers combined for six strikeouts in three hitless innings.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Votto had two hits and is 10-for-28 during a seven-game hitting streak. … Miller batted leadoff for the first time in his seven major-league games and hit his second triple of the game in the fifth inning. … Leake allowed four runs and five hits in five innings.
