Angels 4, Tigers 3 (13)

Mark Trumbo led off the bottom of the 13th inning with a walk-off homer to give host Los Angeles a three-game sweep of Detroit.

Trumbo improved to 4-for-4 in his career against Tigers left-hander Phil Coke (0-2) by driving a 3-1 pitch well over the left-field fence. The blast ended a frustrating 4-hour, 28-minute contest in which Angels’ hitters struck out 16 times and left 10 runners on base.

Jerome Williams (1-0) pitched three shutout innings of two-hit relief for Los Angeles. The Tigers left 13 runners on base.

Albert Pujols delivered a two-run double in a three-run third-inning uprising that gave the Angels a 3-1 lead. Detroit’s Prince Fielder tied the contest with a two-run blast in the fifth.

Tigers starter Doug Fister allowed three runs (two earned) and six hits in seven innings. Los Angeles starter C.J. Wilson gave up three runs and five hits in six innings.
