Royals 3, Tigers 2: Lorenzo Cain hit a tiebreaking RBI infield single during a three-run third inning as Kansas City extended its home and overall winning streaks to six games.

Salvador Perez delivered a two-run triple and Jeremy Guthrie tossed 6 1/3 effective innings for the Royals, who improved to 6-1 on their nine-game homestand.

After Miguel Cabrera gave Detroit the lead in the top of the third with a two-run homer, Alcides Escobar led off the bottom half against Doug Fister (5-4) with an infield single. Eric Hosmer singled two batters later and both runners scored on the triple by Perez, who raced home on Cain's two-out grounder deep into the hole at short to put Kansas City ahead.

Guthrie (7-3) recorded his second straight victory, allowing two runs and six hits. Three relievers bridged the gap to Greg Holland, who struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 13th save in 15 opportunities.

Fister surrendered three runs and nine hits over eight innings for the Tigers, who had their four-game winning streak snapped. The right-hander, who has gone five straight starts without a win, tossed his sixth career complete game and first this season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kansas City's home winning streak is its longest since also capturing six in a row from Aug. 17-30. The Royals' overall run is their longest since winning seven straight from Sept. 10-17, 2011. ... RF Torii Hunter recorded two of Detroit's seven hits. It was his second multi-hit performance in four games. ... Kansas City's bullpen pitched 2 1/3 scoreless frames, extending its streak to 20 innings over its last seven contests.
