Rockies 4, Pirates 2

Todd Helton celebrated the 16th anniversary of his major-league debut with two RBIs in the decisive three-run sixth and Jhoulys Chacin pitched eight strong innings as visiting Colorado snapped a four-game losing streak.

Troy Tulowitzki belted a solo home run and also drove in a pair as the Rockies rebounded from a four-game sweep in Atlanta. Chacin (10-5) allowed one run and six hits and retired the last 14 batters in a row before Rex Brothers allowed back-to-back doubles in the ninth en route to his eighth save.

Andrew McCutchen drove in a run for the Pirates, whose lead in the National League Central shrunk to a half-game over St. Louis. Gerrit Cole (5-5) lost for the fifth time in six starts after yielding three runs, three hits and two walks while striking out six in 5 1/3 innings.

Tulowitzki's 20th home run came on a 3-2 slider leading off the second inning before McCutchen tied the game in the third with a one-out single. Chacin, who has allowed nine runs in his last five starts, overcame being struck in the pitching arm by Starling Marte's line drive, which turned into an out to end the fifth.

Tulowitzki greeted reliever Justin Wilson with a run-scoring infield hit in the sixth inning and Corey Dickerson and Tulowitzki advanced on a wild pitch. Helton, who went 2-for-4 with a home run at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh on Aug. 2, 1997, lined a two-run single up the middle to make it 4-1.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Colorado LF Carlos Gonzalez (right middle finger) was not in the starting lineup for the second straight night and entered in the eighth inning as a defensive replacement. Rockies RF Michael Cuddyer, who is batting .329, missed his second straight game while attending to a family matter. ... Pittsburgh pitchers had not allowed a home run at PNC Park for 70 innings prior to Tulowitzki's blast. ... Cole has not allowed more than three runs in his first 10 career starts.
