Wilin Rosario finished a triple shy of the cycle and drove in four runs as host Colorado halted Pittsburgh's five-game winning streak.
Michael Cuddyer collected two hits and three RBIs while Nolan Arenado had a run-scoring double among his three hits for the Rockies, who snapped their five-game skid.
The Pirates, who maintained their four-game lead over St. Louis in the National League Central, fell behind early as Rosario highlighted a four-run first inning with a two-run double. Colorado increased its lead to 9-1 in the second as Rosario belted a two-run homer off Francisco Liriano (12-5) during the five-run frame.
Jorge De La Rosa (11-6) benefited from the offensive outburst, notching his third win in four decisions after allowing one run and eight hits over five innings. The left-hander walked three and struck out three in improving to 7-1 at home.
Liriano was pounded for 10 runs and 12 hits in just 2 1/3 frames as he lost for only the second time in nine decisions. Starling Marte went 4-for-4 and Jordy Mercer recorded two hits and an RBI for Pittsburgh, which won two of three at home versus Colorado last weekend.
