Rockies 3, Pirates 2

Rockies 3, Pirates 2: Nolan Arenado delivered an RBI double in the seventh inning to snap a tie and help host Colorado complete a three-game sweep.

DJ LeMahieu lifted a sacrifice fly and Charlie Blackmon recorded two of the six hits by the Rockies, who had not swept a series since accomplishing the feat in back-to-back sets against San Diego and the New York Mets in mid-April.

After Yorvit Torrealba scored the tying run on an error by Pittsburgh third baseman Pedro Alvarez in the sixth, Wilin Rosario kept Colorado alive in the seventh with a two-out single. Arenado followed with a double to right field off Bryan Morris (5-5), plating Rosario for a 3-2 edge.

Manny Corpas (1-2) worked a scoreless seventh to notch the victory and Rex Brothers recorded the final two outs with two runners in scoring position for his 10th save.

Pedro Alvarez hit his National League-leading 28th home run and Andrew McCutchen registered two hits and an RBI for the Pirates, who saw their lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central shrink to three games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Alvarez's second-inning leadoff blast was his first in 12 contests. ... Pittsburgh had not been swept since dropping three straight at Atlanta from June 3-5. ... Pirates starter Jeff Locke's winless streak reached four starts even though the left-hander allowed just two runs - one earned - and three hits in 5 2/3 innings. Counterpart Chad Bettis yielded two runs and four hits over six frames in his third career outing.
