Astros 10, Brewers 1
Matt Dominguez clubbed his first career grand slam and Carlos Pena swatted a three-run homer as host Houston battered Milwaukee in the opener of their three-game series.
Jordan Lyles (4-1) won his third straight decision, limiting the Brewers to one run on seven hits in seven innings as the Astros won for the fifth time in six games. It was the seven straight quality start by Lyles, who has surrendered eight runs in that span.
Brewers starter Alfredo Figaro (1-1) lasted only 4 1/3 innings and gave up five runs - four earned - on four hits. He exited following the three-run shot by Pena, who entered the contest hitless in his previous 14 at-bats.
Houston turned it into a laugher in the seventh inning, as Chris Carter delivered a run-scoring double off Burke Badenhop before Dominguez capped the five-run outburst with his blast off Tom Gorzelanny. Dominguez also had a sacrifice fly for a career-high five RBIs.
Milwaukee, which fell to 6-4 in its last 10 games, scored its lone run in the second inning, when Juan Francisco lashed a leadoff triple - one of his three hits - and scored on Scooter Gennett's single.
