Blue Jays 4, Astros 0

Blue Jays 4, Astros 0: Mark Buehrle went the distance on a two-hitter as host Toronto halted a seven-game losing skid.

Buehrle (6-7) limited Houston to a fifth-inning single and a seventh-inning double en route to his ninth career shutout - and first since throwing a perfect game against Tampa Bay on July 23, 2009. The veteran left-hander walked two and struck out a season-high nine.

Erik Bedard (3-8) was the hard-luck loser, holding Toronto to one run on three hits while fanning six over five innings. Bedard has dropped five straight decisions.

Leading 1-0, the Blue Jays broke the game open with three runs in the seventh. Adam Lind belted a double off the right-field wall to bring home Jose Bautista and Maicer Izturis followed with a two-run single to right as Toronto improved to 1-6 since the All-Star break.

Buehrle and Bedard traded zeroes over the first three innings before Toronto halted the scoreless deadlock in the fourth. Bautista drew a two-out walk and came around to score on Edwin Encarnacion's double to right field.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Buehrle's complete game was just Toronto's second of 2013. ... Blue Jays OF Rajai Davis, who ranks second in the American League with 27 stolen bases, grounded into a pair of 5-4-3 double plays. ... Bedard, an Ontario native, fell to 1-3 in five career starts at the Rogers Centre.
