Rookie Marcell Ozuna delivered a pinch-hit, two-run single in the eighth and visiting Miami rallied to win the opener of the four-game series.
Justin Ruggiano walked to lead off the eighth for the Marlins before Derek Dietrich was hit by a pitch from Jeremy Affeldt (1-3) and both runners advanced on Adeiny Hechavarria’s sacrifice. After Jeff Mathis struck out, Miami pulled ahead when Ozuna dropped a liner in front of right fielder Hunter Pence on Affeldt's 0-2 pitch.
Marlins starter Tom Koehler (1-5) recorded his first career win after taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning, and Steve Cishek worked around a one-out single in the ninth for his 11th save. The win was Miami’s eighth in a row against the Giants at AT&T Park.
Joaquin Arias broke a scoreless tie with an RBI triple in the seventh off Koehler, who allowed one run and three hits over seven innings. Arias went 1-for-2 to extend his career-high hitting streak to 11 games.
Giants starter Chad Gaudin left with a right elbow contusion after being hit by Dietrich's line drive with one out in the fifth. Gaudin worked 4 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits.
GAME NOTEBOOK: San Francisco SS Brandon Crawford (sprained fingers) was held out of the starting lineup for the second straight game. … The Marlins have held the Giants to 13 runs during their eight-game winning streak in San Francisco. … After losing 24 of its first 30 road games, Miami has won four of its last six games away from Marlins Park.
