Donovan Solano ripped a two-run single in the sixth and Tom Koehler tossed six solid innings as host Miami posted its second straight victory to salvage a split of the four-game series.
Logan Morrison had an RBI single in the sixth for his first hit of the season with two outs and runners in scoring position. The Marlins kept Matt Harvey (8-3) winless in four starts against them this season while defeating the Mets for the seventh time in their last nine meetings.
Juan Pierre improved to 7-for-15 in his career versus Harvey by leading off the sixth inning with a pinch-hit single. The speedy veteran advanced to third on Christian Yelich's base hit up the middle before scoring on Morrison's two-out single to right field. The earned run was the first allowed by Harvey in 20 2/3 innings.
Solano provided insurance after capping a nine-pitch at-bat by driving a slider into right-center field. Yelich and Morrison came around to score to give the Marlins a 3-0 advantage.
The two-out uprising made a winner of Koehler (3-6), who overcame five hits and as many walks to pick up his first victory at home. A.J. Ramos struck out two to bridge the gap to Steve Cishek, who retired the side in the ninth for his 23rd save and hand the Mets their first shutout loss since May 25 versus Atlanta.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Harvey yielded three runs on five hits and struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings. The fireballer has registered his three briefest outings of the season against Miami - 5 1/3 innings on April 29 and five frames on June 2. ... Marlins rookie CF Jake Marisnick made a diving catch to deny RF Marlon Byrd of a hit in the fifth inning. Marisnick jumped to his feet and tossed the ball to Solano, who promptly fired a strike to first base to catch 3B David Wright and complete an inning-ending double play. ... New York opens a six-game homestand on Friday by beginning a three-game set versus Kansas City. Miami will conclude its 10-game homestand with a three-game series versus Cleveland.
