Rangers 4, Angels 3
Geovany Soto belted a walk-off home run after A.J. Pierzynski led off the ninth with a tying homer as Texas rallied to snap its four-game losing streak.
Angels closer Ernesto Frieri (0-3) allowed both homers, with Soto’s two-out blast landing just inside the left-field foul pole. Jason Frasor (1-2) worked a perfect ninth inning as Texas won for the fourth time in its last 16 games.
The ninth-inning drama spoiled a strong outing by Angels starter Jered Weaver, who retired 12 in a row at one point and yielded one run with six strikeouts over seven innings. The Angels took a 3-0 lead in the fifth when J.B. Shuck blasted his first career home run and Josh Hamilton added a two-run single off Matt Garza, who struck out six over seven innings in his second start with the Rangers.
The Rangers snapped a 26-inning scoreless streak in the sixth on Ian Kinsler’s RBI single, but Weaver struck out Pierzynski with two runners on to end the threat. The Rangers cut the lead to 3-2 in the eighth when Elvis Andrus scored on Kinsler's sacrifice fly.
Mike Trout and Hamilton had two hits apiece for Los Angeles, which lost its fourth straight.
