Rookie Wil Myers recorded the second multi-homer performance of his brief career and Jeremy Hellickson tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings as visiting Tampa Bay posted its second straight victory.
Myers opened the scoring in the second inning with a one-out solo blast and made it 3-0 in the seventh with a two-run shot off Jered Weaver (9-8). Desmond Jennings drew a one-out walk and stole second before Myers deposited a 2-1 offering over the wall in left field.
Hellickson (11-8) allowed four hits and two walks while striking out four as he snapped a personal five-game losing streak. Fernando Rodney worked the ninth for his 32nd save for the Rays, who remained 5 1/2 games behind first-place Boston in the American League East and 2 1/2 ahead of the New York Yankees for the second wild-card spot.
Weaver worked seven innings, yielding three runs and six hits. The veteran right-hander had allowed a total of one run in 14 frames over his previous two starts.
Pinch hitter Chris Iannetta belted a leadoff homer in the seventh for the Angels, who have lost two in a row following a five-game winning streak.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Myers registered his first two-homer effort July 28 in New York. ... Hellickson was pitching for the first time since Aug. 26 as he returned from a brief demotion to the minors. ... Tampa Bay improved to 2-4 on its 10-game West Coast road trip.
