Yuniesky Betancourt hit a grand slam and Norichika Aoki recorded three RBIs as visiting Milwaukee routed Seattle in the opener of a three-game series.
Betancourt hit his blast during a five-run fifth inning in which Milwaukee sent 10 batters to the plate. The Mariners made three errors en route to their 10th loss in 15 games.
Kyle Lohse (8-7) struck out seven while allowing three runs and six hits in seven innings en route to his seventh win in eight decisions.
Aoki delivered a two-run single against Joe Saunders (10-11) in the third before Seattle tied the game in the bottom of the inning, when Kyle Seager singled in two. Jeff Bianchi dropped an RBI bloop single into shallow right field in the fourth to put Milwaukee ahead, and Martin Maldonado smacked a two-run double into the left-field corner later in the frame to make it 5-2.
Betancourt’s homer in the fifth made it a seven-run lead and ended Saunders’ night before Aoki added an RBI single later in the inning. Seattle’s Nick Franklin had a run-scoring single in the seventh and Justin Smoak hit a two-run homer in the eighth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks (hamstring) will miss the rest of the season and require four to six months of rehab time, regardless of whether he opts for surgery. … Saunders allowed nine runs (four earned) and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. … Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke was ejected in the fourth inning for arguing after the umpires ruled fan interference and Carlos Gomez was ordered back to third base.
