Mariners 6, Twins 4

Nick Franklin went 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs and Michael Saunders also went deep as host Seattle defeated Minnesota.

Franklin hit a tiebreaking three-homer in the fourth off Twins starter Kyle Gibson (2-3) and added a solo shot in the seventh as the Mariners earned a split of the four-game series.

Erasmo Ramirez (2-0) gave up four runs and seven hits in six innings en route to his third major-league victory. Danny Farquhar struck out five in two innings of relief and Tom Wilhelmsen worked the ninth for his 24th save in 29 opportunities for Seattle, which won for the 10th time in 13 games.

Chris Colabello got Minnesota on the board with a two-run shot in the second and his bid for a three-run homer an inning later was thwarted when Seattle right fielder Endy Chavez leaped above the wall to rob him. The Mariners got on the board in the bottom of the third on Kyle Seager’s sacrifice fly and Saunders hit a second-deck blast to right in the fourth to tie the contest.

Franklin’s first homer gave Seattle a 5-2 lead. His second came shortly after Minnesota pulled within one on Clete Thomas’ RBI single and Aaron Hicks’ sacrifice fly in the sixth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Seattle manager Eric Wedge visited the clubhouse for the first time since suffering a mild stroke on Monday. Bench coach Robby Thompson is filling in as manager. Wedge will not accompany the team on the six-game road trip that begins Tuesday. … Gibson allowed five runs and seven hits in five innings. … Franklin, a rookie with 10 homers in 52 games, also went deep twice against the San Diego Padres on May 30.
