Giants 4, Phillies 3 (10)

Andres Torres delivered a game-winning RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning as San Francisco avoided a series sweep.

Philadelphia rallied for two runs on a Chase Utley single and a Delmon Young sacrifice fly in the ninth against Giants closer Sergio Romo before San Francisco got to Antonio Bastardo (1-1), the sixth Phillies pitcher, for the decisive run.

Buster Posey had a pinch-hit single to begin the 10th, moved up on a sacrifice bunt and went to third on a wild pitch. After Bastardo walked Brandon Crawford and struck out Guillermo Quiroz, Torres lined a hit into right field to set off a celebration at AT&T Park.

The rally made a winner of Javier Lopez (1-0), who retired the side in the 10th. San Francisco starter Barry Zito allowed a run in seven-plus innings and delivered an RBI single in the sixth to give his team the 3-1 lead it would take to the ninth.

Hunter Pence started the scoring with a solo homer off Philadelphia rookie Jonathan Pettibone to lead off the second before the Phillies tied it on Kevin Frandsen's homer in the fourth. Marco Scutaro extended his hitting streak to eight games with an RBI single in the fifth as the Giants went up 2-1.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Charlie Manuel managed his 1,331st game with the Phillies, tying Gene Mauch for the most in franchise history. ... Pettibone allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings, walking four and striking out one. ... Philadelphia RHP Roy Halladay said Wednesday he will undergo surgery on his right shoulder. He did not rule out returning to the mound this season.
