Giants 5, Padres 4

Juan Perez hit a tiebreaking RBI single with two outs in the eighth inning as host San Francisco snapped San Diego’s seven-game winning streak.

Pinch-hitter Jesus Guzman gave San Diego a 4-3 lead with a two-run homer in the top of the eighth before the Giants rallied for two runs in the bottom half. Brandon Belt tied the game with an RBI double off Dale Thayer (0-3), who intentionally walked Nick Noonan and retired Joaquin Arias before Perez delivered his single to right field.

Giants starter Matt Cain struck out a season-high 10 batters while allowing two runs and six hits over seven innings, and Jean Machi (2-0) recorded the win after retiring the only batter he faced in the eighth. Sergio Romo worked around a two-out single in the ninth for his 17th save in 20 opportunities.

Belt had three hits for the Giants, who grabbed an early lead on Buster Posey’s first-inning RBI single. San Francisco added another run in the fourth, when Belt scored on Arias’ double-play grounder off Andrew Cashner, who allowed three runs on 10 hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Cain retired 15 in row after Logan Forsythe's game-opening single before Nick Hundley led off the sixth inning with his fifth home run. After Cashner grounded out to second, Forsythe tied the game with a solo shot into the left-field seats.
