Blue Jays 4, Rangers 3 (18)

Rajai Davis bounced a single just inside the third-base line with two out in the 18th as Toronto handed Texas its seventh loss in its last eight road games.

Emilio Bonifacio singled off Ross Wolf (1-1) with one out and moved to third on a two-out errant pickoff throw to first by Wolf. Davis then placed his game-winning hit just inside the line to make a winner out of Aaron Loup (3-3) and end a 5-hour, 28-minute contest that matched the longest game inning-wise in Blue Jays’ history.

The teams engaged in the marathon after Toronto closer Casey Janssen blew his first save in 13 opportunities this season by allowing A.J. Pierzynski’s run-scoring single and Elvis Andrus’ sacrifice fly in the ninth. Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle allowed one run and four hits over seven innings.

Jeff Baker’s second-deck homer to left in the seventh accounted for the first Texas run. Rangers ace Yu Darvish struck out seven in seven innings to raise his major league-leading count to 118, and gave up three runs (two earned) and five hits.

The Blue Jays had runners on first and second with two out in the third when Colby Rasmus stroked a ball into the right-center field gap. Both runners scored and Texas second baseman Jurickson Profar made a poor relay throw to third as the ball bounced out of play to allow Rasmus to score and make it 3-0.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Toronto was 2-for-17 with runners in scoring position and left 16 on base. Texas was 1-for-19 and stranded 17. … Rangers OF Nelson Cruz (hamstring) was back in the lineup and was hitless in six at-bats. … Janssen had converted 18 consecutive save opportunities dating to last August before his ninth-inning collapse.
