Mariners 8, Red Sox 2

Kyle Seager homered and had four RBIs as Seattle rolled past visiting Boston for the second straight night.

Endy Chavez went 3-for-5 with an RBI triple as the Mariners won a season-high fifth consecutive game. Mike Zunino homered and Logan Morrison and Brad Miller also drove in runs as Seattle handed Boston its fifth loss in six games.

Joe Beimel (2-1) pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief to record the victory. Four Seattle relievers combined for 4 2/3 shutout innings.

Seager had a first-inning RBI double and Logan Morrison added a sacrifice fly as the Mariners began their assault against Jake Peavy (1-6), who allowed seven runs and eight hits in five innings while failing to win for the 11th consecutive start. Chavez laced a run-scoring triple into the right-field corner in the second inning before Boston got on the board on Brock Holt’s two-run homer in the fourth against Erasmo Ramirez.

Seager broke the game open with a three-run blast to right in the fifth and Zunino homered to left one out later. Miller added a run-scoring single in the eighth to complete the scoring.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Seattle has 20 runs and 24 hits over the first two contests of the three-game set. … Boston manager John Farrell told reporters that RHP Clay Buchholz (knee) will be activated from the disabled list to start Wednesday’s game. … Ramirez allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings but gave up five hits and five walks.
