Astros 5, Rangers 4

Matt Dominguez singled home the winning run with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as host Houston ended a streak of 15 consecutive series losses to Texas.

Dominguez drilled a long single off the wall in right field to complete a comeback from a 4-0 deficit for the Astros, which won the final two games of the series after having lost 10 straight contests at home to the Rangers. George Springer belted a two-run tying homer in the seventh while pinch hitter Jesus Guzman and Chris Carter had RBI singles to make a winner of Chad Qualls (1-1), who retired both hitters he faced in the ninth.

Adrian Beltre went 3-for-5 with an RBI, Prince Fielder had two hits and drove in two runs and Alex Rios homered for Texas, which lost for only the fifth time in 25 meetings with Houston. Nick Martinez (0-1) yielded one run on two hits while Rangers starter Nick Tepesch gave up a run on two hits in 5 1/3 innings in his season debut.

After Rios homered in the second to open the scoring, Fielder followed singles by Elvis Andrus and Beltre with one of his own in the third to make it 2-0. That same trio combined for three straight hits and a pair of runs in the fifth as Andrus ripped a leadoff double and scored on Beltre's single before Fielder delivered an RBI double for a 4-0 advantage.

Guzman and Carter started the comeback with RBI singles off reliever Aaron Poreda in the sixth before Springer tied it one inning later with a bullet into the seats in left off Jason Frasor for his third homer. Astros starter Scott Feldman was tagged for four runs on 10 hits in five innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Rangers absorbed two huge blows to their starting rotation Wednesday, learning that LHP Matt Harrison will require spinal fusion surgery and LHP Martin Perez has a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. Harrison missed most of last season after undergoing back surgery and faces an uncertain future, while Perez will be sidelined for at least 10 to 12 weeks and may need Tommy John surgery. ... Astros 2B Jose Altuve extended his hitting streak to seven games, while Andrus (2-for-5) has hit safely in 11 straight. ... LHP Anthony Bass (strained right intercostal muscle) became the latest reliever to go on the 15-day disabled list for Houston, which will host the Chicago White Sox for three games beginning Friday. Texas returns home to face Toronto on Friday in the opener of a three-game set.
