Brewers 8, Indians 1
MILWAUKEE -- Matt Garza threw six shutout innings in his first start since returning from the disabled list and shortstop Jean Segura hit his fourth home run of the season as the Brewers extended their winning streak to four games with an 8-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians Tuesday night at Miller Park.
Garza (5-10) had been sidelined since July 2 with a fatigued right shoulder. He struck out four, gave up six hits and walked a pair during his outing, but was helped in large part by his defense, which turned three double plays for him and four for the game.
The Brewers' offense couldn't do much against Cleveland left-hander Danny Salazar (8-5), who struck out eight over six innings of work, but provided just enough support in the early innings to give Garza his first victory since June 6.
After Garza gave way to the bullpen in the seventh, Cleveland got on the board with doubles off right-hander Michael Blazek, but the Brewers responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning.
Left fielder Gerardo Parra continued his hot streak, finishing the day 2-for-4 with a walk, two triples and two runs scored.
Parra opened the Brewers' first with a triple, then scored on catcher Jonathan Lucroy's groundout.
Milwaukee added two runs in the second when center fielder Carlos Gomez led off with a walk and scored on a Segura's one-out homer.
Cleveland went down in order in the first, then stranded runners in scoring position in the next four innings.
