Brewers 5, Twins 3
MILWAUKEE -- Ryan Braun and Adam Lind each hit two-run home runs in the eighth inning to lead the Milwaukee Brewers past the Minnesota Twins 5-3 Sunday afternoon in an interleague contest at Miller Park.
Facing right-hander Casey Fien with the score tied 1-1, Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy led off the eighth with a walk. Braun followed by smacking a 1-0 slider to center for his team-leading 15th home run of the year.
Fien (2-3) went 0-2 to center fielder Carlos Gomez, who worked the count even before singling to center.
That brought up Lind who battled to a full count before Fien hung a slider that Lind sent to left for his 11th home run of the season.
Left-hander Will Smith (4-0) worked a scoreless eighth inning while right-hander Francisco Rodriguez gave up a two-run home run in the ninth to right fielder Torii Hunter and put the tying run on base with two outs. But Rodriguez struck out second baseman Brian Dozier for his 16th save in as many chances this season.
Brewers starter Mike Fiers went seven innings and allowed only one run on four hits while walking three and striking out four.
He gave way to pinch-hitter Gerardo Parra, who tied the game at 1-1 with a two-out single to left in the bottom of the seventh off right-hander Blaine Boyer, who came on in relief of starter Tommy Milone.
The left-handed Milone threw six scoreless innings and struck out seven.
He left the game with a 1-0 lead thanks to left fielder Eduardo Escobar's sacrifice fly in the seventh.
