Giants 6, Mariners 2

SAN FRANCISCO -- Third baseman Matt Duffy went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBIs and the San Francisco Giants ended their nine-game home losing streak with a 6-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday afternoon at AT&T Park.

The Giants' nine-game skid was tied for the second longest home losing streak in franchise history since 1912, just two shy of the 11-game streak in 1940 at the Polo Grounds in New York.

Giants right-hander Tim Lincecum (7-3) allowed two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings and improved to 5-2 overall at AT&T. He struck out three and walked four.

Relievers George Kontos, Javier Lopez, Sergio Romo and Santiago Casilla combined to blank Seattle in the final 3 1/3 innings.

Pinch-hitter Casey McGehee had a two-run double during a three-run eighth inning when the Giants extended their lead to 6-2. Duffy had an RBI single and scored a run in the eighth.

Mariners left-hander J.A. Happ (3-3) gave up three runs and seven hits in six innings, striking out five and walking two.

Mariners shortstop Brad Miller went 2-for-4 with his sixth homer run of the season, a solo shot. He drove in two runs and scored once.

The Giants took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when catcher Buster Posey ripped a leadoff single to left and Duffy launched a two-run shot into the left field seats with one out.

With a 2-2 count, Happ threw a 92 mph fastball, and Duffy hammered it for his sixth home run of the season and third in his past 11 games. Duffy's home run was the first by a Giant during their five-game homestand.

Miller cut the Giants' lead in half with a leadoff homer in the fifth. Lincecum threw him a first-pitch curve and Miller lined it over the left-center field fence for an opposite field homer. It was his sixth home run of the season and first since May 17 against Boston.

The Giants extended their lead to 3-1 with a run in the fifth. Catcher Andrew Susac led off with a double to left center and scored when center fielder Angel Pagan blooped a single to right with two outs. Pagan had grounded into double plays his first two at-bats.

Seattle answered with a run in the sixth. Third baseman Kyle Seager lined a single to left with two outs, moved to second when center fielder James Jones walked and scored on Miller's sharp single to center, which ended Lincecum's day.

Pagan was thrown out of the game in the top of ninth by home plate umpire Bill Welke after apparently arguing after back-to-back questionable strike calls. Giants manager Bruce Bochy was tossed, too, after a heated exchange with Welke.

Outfielder Jarrett Parker replaced Pagan with a 1-2 count and took a called third strike.

NOTES: Giants RF Hunter Pence (left wrist tendinitis) has been shut down again and will wear a splint for the next five to seven days, manager Bruce Bochy said. "Hopefully all goes well and he can be ready in the next day or so," Bochy said. .... Mariners LF Mark Trumbo (back spasms) was out of the starting lineup for the third straight game. ... Mariners third base coach Rich Donnelly returned to the team and resumed his duties Tuesday after missing Monday's game while in the hospital because of stomach pain.
