Diamondbacks 14, Nationals 6

PHOENIX -- Arizona right fielder Mark Trumbo hit two home runs and drove in four runs and third baseman Aaron Hill had three hits and two RBIs in the Diamondbacks' 14-6 victory over the Washington Nationals at Chase Field on Tuesday.

Trumbo hit a three-run homer to cap a five-run fourth inning off right-hander Stephen Strasburg (2-4) and added a bases-empty homer in the sixth. He has four homers and eight RBIs in five games in the No. 2 spot in the lineup.

Hill had a two-run double in the first inning as the Diamondbacks (15-17) had a season high in runs while winning for the second time in three games.

Strasburg (2-4) gave up a career-high eight runs in 3 1/3 innings.

Right-hander Rubby De La Rosa (4-2) gave up four runs in seven innings, including Washington right fielder Bryce Harper's seventh homer in six games, and had his first career RBI.

Harper, who leads the NL with 12 homers, also doubled for the Nationals (18-16), who had won five in a row and eight of nine.

Center fielder Denard Span and first baseman Ryan Zimmerman had two hits.

Arizona second baseman Chris Owings had three hits and scored three runs, finishing a homer short of the cycle.

Diamondbacks center fielder Ender Inciarte had a solo homer and two sacrifice flies, and left field David Peralta had three hits.

Hill's two-run double with two outs in the first inning made it 2-0.

Span doubled in a run to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the third inning before Inciarte's first homer of the season made it 3-1 in the last of the third.

Harper doubled, took third on Zimmerman's single and scored on a double play grounder as the Nationals closed to 3-2 in the top of the fourth.

The Diamondbacks knocked Strasburg out in the fourth. Owings tripled and scored on catcher Tuffy Gosewisch's single before shortstop Nick Ahmed singled and De La Rosa reached when Strasburg mishandled his bunt for an error.

Inciarte hit a sacrifice fly and Trumbo followed with fifth homer, a three-run shot for an 8-2 lead.

Inciarte had another sacrifice fly and De La Rosa had an RBI single to make it 10-2 in the fifth inning.

Harper's two-run homer in the sixth inning made it 10-4.

NOTES: Arizona 1B Paul Goldschmidt was back in the lineup after being removed for the last six innings of an 11-1 loss Monday, when Washington scored 10 runs in the first two innings. "He's our horse. He's our big guy on the club. We need his bat in the lineup," Arizona manager Chip Hale said. "To give him a few innings off is always good." Goldschmidt has started every game this season, missing only 10 innings. ... Washington RHP Casey Janssen (shoulder) pitched a scoreless inning in a rehab assignment at Double-A Harrisburg and appears to be on track to joining the Nationals next week, after he throws back-to-back games on his rehab assignment. ... Washington 3B Yunel Escobar, who had five singles Monday, is the first player to record two five-hit games in a span of eight days since Seattle RF Ichiro Suzuki did it in 2004. Escobar also had five singles on May 8.
