Phillies 7, Diamondbacks 6

PHOENIX -- Philadelphia catcher Cameron Rupp homered and drove in four runs and rookie Aaron Nola won his third game in the Phillies' 7-6 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon at Chase Field.

Rupp's three-run homer off reliever Keith Hessler capped a four-run sixth inning for the Phillies, who had been outscored 26-4 in the previous two games of the series. Rupp also had a sacrifice fly in the second.

Third baseman Andres Blanco homered and singled, one of five Phillies with two hits. Blanco started in place of rookie Maikel Franco, who missed the game with a left wrist contusion after being hit by a pitch in the first inning on Tuesday.

Arizona first baseman Paul Goldschmidt had three hits and a walk, finishing a homer short of the cycle. He drove in two runs and scored two to improve his National League-leading batting average to .341.

Phillies right-hander Ken Giles converted his seventh straight save opportunity since taking as the closer after Jonathan Papelbon was traded to Washington. Giles struck out Goldschmidt with runners on first and third for the final out of the eighth.

Third baseman Jake Lamb had a single and two RBIs for the Diamondbacks (56-57), who had a three-game winning streak broken and failed in their attempt to move above .500 for the first since April 22.

Arizona left fielder Ender Inciarte had three hits and scored twice, and center fielder A.J. Pollock and second basemen Aaron Hill and Chris Owings had two hits apiece.

Owings was thrown out at home by second baseman Cesar Hernandez for the second out of the eighth inning while trying to score from third base on Pollock's grounder. The call stood after a four-minute, seven-second review.

Hernandez, right fielder Jeff Francoeur, left fielder Cody Asche and shortstop Freddy Galvis had two his apiece for the Phillies (46-69), who have won four of six and are 17-7 since the All-Star break.

Nola (3-1) gave up nine hits and four runs in five innings while benefiting from the four-run sixth. Nola was the seventh player taken in the 2014 draft.

Goldschmidt and Lamb had RBIs for a 2-0 lead in the first inning before Rupp's sacrifice fly made it 2-1.

Blanco homered in the second to tie the score, and Rupp grounded into a double play with runners on first and third in the fourth to make it 3-2.

Goldschmidt tripled in a run and scored on Lamb's single to give Arizona a 4-3 lead in the fifth.

First baseman Ryan Howard doubled and Francoeur singled to knock out Arizona starter Chase Anderson (5-4) in the sixth. Reliever Keith Hessler gave up an RBI single to Galvis before Rupp homered for a 7-4 lead.

Goldschmidt doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly in the seventh to make it 7-5, and Owings doubled in a run in the eighth to trim the deficit to one.
