Cubs 6, Diamondbacks 4

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs got a grand slam by catcher Miguel Montero and a long home run by Kris Bryant in a 6-4 victory Sunday at Wrigley Field to sweep the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Bryant went 1-for-3 with his 23rd homer, Montero went 2-for-3 with his slam in the Cubs' five-run sixth inning and right-hander Justin Grimm (3-4) was credited with the win after throwing a scoreless inning in relief of starter Kyle Hendricks.

Rubby De La Rosa (12-7) took the loss for Arizona after going five-plus innings and allowing three earned runs. One of those runs came off the bat of Bryant, whose solo homer to start the fifth tied it 1-1 and moved the Cubs' slugger into a tie for first in franchise history for RBIs in a season by a rookie (86) with Billy Williams and Geovany Soto.

The blast was Chicago's first hit of the game off De La Rosa, who allowed only one runner on a walk through the first four innings. It was also the longest home run hit this season by any player in the major leagues, estimated at 495 feet after hitting the netting near the top of the Cubs' new video board in left field.

The Cubs (78-57) loaded the bases with one out that inning against De La Rosa, but the Diamondbacks' right-hander struck out Dexter Fowler and Austin Jackson to escape without more damage.

De La Rosa wasn't as fortunate in the sixth, when Arizona manager Chip Hale pulled him after a lead-off single by Chris Coghlan and a walk issued to Anthony Rizzo, the Cubs' first baseman.

Right-hander Enrique Burgos took over and walked Bryant to load the bases before he, too, was yanked by Hale. Left-hander Matt Reynolds came in to face Montero, and the former Diamondbacks' catcher launched his 15th homer of the season to clear the bases. The Cubs took a 5-1 lead on his third career grand slam.

Jonathan Herrera also hit a solo homer off right-hander Silvino Bracho to complete the scoring that inning.

That was all the Cubs needed offensively. Along with Grimm's scoreless frame, they got scoreless outings by Fernando Rodney, Trevor Cahill and Pedro Strop to polish off the victory.

Welington Castillo, who started the season with the Cubs, went 3-for-4 with a home run in the ninth and two RBIs, and Nick Ahmed hit a two-run homer in the ninth to lead Arizona.

NOTES: Arizona manager Chip Hale is hopeful that INF Aaron Hill (hamstring) will be able to run close to full speed and start in a game by Wednesday. Hale said Hill could probably pinch hit right now, but running is still an issue. ... Hale said RHP Zack Godley is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants. After that start, it's likely RHP Jeremy Hellickson (strained left hamstring) will be back on the active roster, which could prompt a six-man rotation or somebody to get skipped. ... Cubs manager Joe Maddon said the only starting pitcher he is monitoring for innings this season is RHP Jake Arrieta, who has thrown a career-high 191 innings already. ... Maddon said he's still unsure whether rookie C/OF Kyle Schwarber (mild rib strain) will be healthy enough to play Monday at the St. Louis Cardinals.
