Rockies 6, Cardinals 2

ST. LOUIS -- When the Colorado Rockies last won in Busch Stadium, Jorge De La Rosa was the starting pitcher.

De La Rosa was on the mound again Saturday night for Colorado's first win under the Gateway Arch since May 12, 2013, tossing 6 2/3 solid innings in a 6-2 verdict over the St. Louis Cardinals.

In improving to 7-4 this year and 8-4 in his career against St. Louis, De La Rosa scattered seven hits and gave up two runs, walking none and fanning four.

First baseman Ben Paulsen broke the game open for the Rockies (44-58), leading off the sixth with a solo homer off Lance Lynn (8-6) and drilling a two-run double off the left-center field wall an inning later for a 6-1 lead.

Lynn was tagged for seven hits and four runs over five-plus innings, issuing three walks and whiffing five. It was his first loss in five career outings against Colorado.

Rookie left fielder Stephen Piscotty collected two hits, including an RBI single, for the Cardinals (66-38). St. Louis' National League Central lead over Pittsburgh remained at 5 1/2 games after the Pirates 4-3 loss in Cincinnati.

After absorbing a 7-0 shutout Friday night, Colorado wasted little time getting on the board in this one. Right fielder Carlos Gonzalez's sacrifice fly to the wall in right-center scored center fielder Charlie Blackmon, who led the game off with a triple off the top of the wall in right-center.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado upped the Rockies' lead to 3-0 in the fourth with a two-run homer over the Colorado bullpen in left-center, his 26th of the year.

St. Louis responded in its half of the fourth with shortstop Jhonny Peralta's 16th homer, a two-out solo shot to center field that traveled 432 feet. It was his second homer in as many nights.
