Brewers 3, Mets 2

MILWAUKEE -- Carlos Gomez scored the go-ahead run on a seventh-inning error, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Mets 3-2 Tuesday night at Miller Park.

Adam Lind's double rolled between left fielder Michael Cuddyer's legs in the seventh, allowing Gomez to score from first base.

Milwaukee shortstop Jean Segura wiped out a one-run deficit an inning before with a sacrifice fly to center, but the Brewers left a runner stranded at third.

Left-hander Will Smith (3-0) worked a perfect seventh to preserve the tie, and with one out in the bottom of the inning, Gomez walked, bringing up first baseman Lind, who chopped an 0-1 offering from left-hander Sean Gilmartin down the third base line.

The ball bounced into foul territory and off a part of the stands that juts out toward the line, rolling between Cuddyer's legs and allowing Gomez to score easily.

Lind finished with two of Milwaukee's nine hits.

The Mets managed just four hits all game, all of them off right-handed starter Mike Fiers.

Fiers went six innings and allowed two earned runs and a pair of walks with seven strikeouts while right-hander Francisco Rodriguez earned his recorded his 14th save of the season.

Mets starter Jon Niese also went six innings and gave up two runs while walking three with three strikeouts.

The Brewers took a 1-0 lead with three straight first-inning singles but couldn't do more damage against Niese in the frame.

Curtis Granderson tied the game with a solo home run in the third, and the Mets then moved ahead in the fourth on a sac fly to left by catcher Kevin Plawecki which scored shortstop Wilmer Flores.
