Brewers 10, Twins 4
MILWAUKEE -- Chris Carter, Aaron Hill and Domingo Santana homered and Ryan Braun reached base four times as the Milwaukee Brewers used a late-inning offensive outburst to hand the Minnesota Twins a 10-4 loss Wednesday night at Miller Park.
Braun had two singles, walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run, raising his average to .340 on the young season.
Hill also had two hits -- his first multi-hit game of the season -- including his first home run of the year, a solo shot in the sixth that broke a 4-4 tie.
Milwaukee broke the game open in the seventh, an insurance run on a Jonathan Lucroy double and an error by Oswaldo Arcia then two more when Carter hit his fourth homer of the season.
Santana pushed the lead to five with a leadoff shot in the eighth, his second of the year.
Minnesota collected 12 hits -- 10 of them off Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson -- but couldn't cash in save for home runs by Arcia and Rosario in the sixth and an RBI single from Joe Mauer in the ninth.
Nelson went 6 2/3 innings and allowed a walk while striking out six.
Twins left-hander Tommy Milone struck out six while giving up four runs in five hits and a pair of walks in 4 2/3 innings of work.
Eduardo Nunez staked Milone to an early lead with an RBI single in the second.
Following Braun's first-inning single, Milone retired the next eight Brewers batters. Braun snapped that streak with a one-out single in the fourth.
Milone got Lucroy to fly out to center but Carter followed with a double, scoring Braun and trying the score at 1-1.
He worked out of it and recorded his second hit of the day in the fifth, but couldn't make it out of the bottom of the inning, walking Santana and Jonathan Villar to load the bases with two out.
Right-hander Michael Tonkin took over but walked Braun to drive in the go-ahead run and Lucroy smoked a 2-2 fastball off the wall in left to drive in two more, making it a 4-1 game before Tonkin finally got out of the inning.
