Raburn's pinch-hit homer pushes Rockies past Mets

DENVER -- Pinch hitter Ryan Raburn hit a two-run homer in the seventh Sunday that gave the Colorado Rockies a 4-3 over the New York Mets.

It was the sixth career pinch-hit homer and second this season for Raburn and enabled the Rockies to sweep the three-game series. The Rockies last swept a three-game series from the Mets on April 16-18, 2013.

Raburn continued to pummel Mets pitching; he's 9-for-16 (.563) against them with three homers and eight RBIs in his career.

Raburn's homer came against Jim Henderson (0-2), who came on to face Raburn in relief of starter Jacob deGrom, who allowed four hits and three runs in 6 1/3 innings in his Coors Field debut.

Tyler Chatwood (5-3) was even more effective for the Rockies. He allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings.

Chatwood came into the game 0-3 with a 7.88 ERA in three previous starts at Coors Field this season, compared to a 4-0 record and 0.33 ERA in four starts on the road.

Boone Logan relieved Chatwood in the eighth and gave up a one-out double to pinch-hitter Juan Lagares followed by an intentional walk to Yoenis Cespedes. Logan got Lucas Duda to hit a slow roller to third baseman Nolan Arenado, who tried to tag Lagares. He was called out for running out of the baseline, and Arenado threw to first to complete an inning-ending double play.

Jake McGee pitched the ninth to earn his 12th save in 14 chances and third in the series.

Carlos Gonzalez broke an extended homerless drought when he drove deGrom's first pitch over the wall in center with two outs in the sixth. The homer, which cut the Mets' lead to 3-2, was the fifth of the season for Gonzalez and his first since April 16. He went 99 at-bats without hitting a home run and had not driven in a run since April 24. Gonzalez's homerless streak lasted 24 games, his longest since he went 24 games and 94 at-bats without a homer in 2012.

Cespedes hit his 12th homer to give the Mets a 1-0 lead in the second, a towering 433-foot shot into the Rockies' bullpen in right-center on an 0-2 fastball. The Mets tacked on two more runs to make it 3-1 in the third. Eric Campbell led off with a double and scored on deGrom's single. Consecutive one-out singles by Asdrubel Cabrera and Michael Conforto brought deGrom home

After extending his scoreless streak at the start of his career against the Rockies to 16 innings, they scored a run in the second. With one out, Carlos Gonzalez lined a double to left field, the ball sailing over the head of Michael Conforto. DJ LeMahieu's two-out single scored Gonzalez.

NOTES: Rockies LHP Jorge De La Rosa (strained left groin) threw 92 pitches, 53 strikes, in 3 2/3 innings Saturday night for Triple-A Albuquerque in his second rehab start. The Rockies will decide whether De La Rosa needs at least one more rehab start before returning to the rotation. ... Mets 3B David Wright and RF Curtis Granderson were given planned days off. ... Mets LHP Steven Matz, who reported elbow soreness after his last start May 9, will see a doctor Monday. If Matz is cleared, he could throw off a mound Tuesday and, barring a setback, start Thursday's series finale against Washington.
