Padres 3, Dodgers 2 (11 innings)
SAN DIEGO -- Yangervis Solarte drew a bases-loaded walk to force home Wil Myers with two outs in the 11th inning to give the San Diego Padres a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night at Petco Park.
It was the Padres' second walk-off win in as many nights against the Dodgers.
Myers opened the 11th with his third hit of the game, a single against right-handed reliever Chi-Hui Tsao. Myers stole second after Melvin Upton Jr. almost hit his second walk-off homer in as many nights. Dodgers left fielder Trayce Thompson made a leaping catch at the wall to deny Upton.
Tsao (0-1) then issued back-to-back, two-out walks to Derek Norris and Brett Wallace to load the bases for Solarte, who returned from the disabled list earlier Saturday.
Tsao walked Solarte on four straight balls.
The Padres took a 1-0 lead into the top of the seventh when Thompson followed an Adrian Gonzalez single with his seventh homer of the season – a 412-foot shot to right center off Padres starter Cesar Vargas.
But the Padres tied the score in the bottom of the seventh. Norris opened the inning with a double off Dodgers starter Alex Wood and reached third on Wallace's opposite-field single to left.
With one out, Norris scored on pinch-hitter Alexi Amarista's sacrifice fly to Thompson in left.
Wood and Vargas were locked in a scoreless draw into the bottom of the sixth when San Diego scored first on a sacrifice fly by former Dodger Matt Kemp.
Jon Jay drew a one-out walk and advanced to third on Myers' second single of the game. Kemp, who had struck out in his first two at-bats against Wood to lengthen his slump to 1-for-19, fell behind in the count before hitting a high fly to medium-deep right, with Jay scoring easily ahead of Yasiel Puig's throw.
Each team had two hits through the sixth. The Dodgers had two singles off Vargas, with both beating the Padres defensive shift in the third.
Gonzalez opened the inning by lining a single to left when the Padres deployed three infielders on the right side. After Gonzalez was forced at second, the left-handed Joc Pederson bunted down the third-base line to beat the same shift with a single to put Dodgers on first and second with one out.
But Vargas struck out Puig and retired former Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal on a slow roller to first.
The Padres' first threat against Wood came in the second when Melvin Upton Jr. walked, stole second and reached third with one out on a passed ball by Grandal. But Wood retired Wallace on a soft liner to second and got Alexei Ramirez on a grounder to third to end the threat.
At the end of six innings, Vargas had six strikeouts and had retired 10 Dodgers via ground balls. He had set down 11 straight Dodgers until Gonzalez opened the seventh by again beating the shift with a single to left.
Meanwhile, Wood had a career-high 13 strikeouts after six innings.
