WEC and UFC veteran Brad Pickett, who has fought as heavy as lightweight, will attempt to make the cut to 125 pounds against Ian McCall this March.
The UFC News Twitter page revealed the fight on Tuesday afternoon, which takes place at UFC Fight Night 37 in London on March 8.
“One Punch” is 4-4 in his past eight bouts, with just a 1-2 mark in his most recent three fights.
To his credit though, the English slugger earned an impressive six fight bonuses (five “Fight of the Night” and one “Knockout of the Night”) during that same span.
Also worth noting is that Jorgensen holds a victory over current UFC flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson, though that bout was contested at bantamweight and took place in April 2010.
A matchup with McCall all but guarantees fireworks, since similarly, “Uncle Creepy” has earned two “Fight of the Night” bonuses in his past four fights. However, he is just 1-2(1) during that 17-month span.
McCall recently got back to his winning ways at UFC 163 in August, winning an entertaining decision over newcomer Iliarde Santos.
The former Tachi Palace Fights flyweight champ will certainly be fighting with a chip on his shoulder, as his long-time friend and teammate Shane del Rosario died on Sunday following a “catastrophic cardiovascular collapse."
McCall was originally scheduled to compete at UFC on FOX 9 this weekend against Scott Jorgensen, another longtime bantamweight fighter. However an undisclosed injury forced McCall off the card in late October.
