Two of the UFC’s most recognizable featherweight faces will square off this summer to separate the contender from the pretender.
Former Strikeforce champion Clay Guida is set to square off with The Ultimate Fighter season 14 runner-up Dennis Bermudez at UFC on FOX 12 on July 26.
The bout takes place in San Jose, California and the pairing was first announced by FOX Sports.
“The Carpenter,” a former lightweight contender, is 2-1 since dropping to featherweight and has alternated wins and losses in his new weight class.
Guida won decisions over Hatsu Hioki and Tatsuya Kawajiri, while suffering the first knockout loss of his career against Chad Mendes at UFC 164 in August.
Meanwhile, after losing in the TUF 14 Finale to Diego Brandao, Bermudez has rattled off six wins in a row.
Most recently, “The Menace” scored a “Performance of the Night” bonus when he defeated Jimmy Hettes by TKO UFC 171 in March.
According to the UFC’s official rankings, Guida is the No. 7 featherweight in the world, while Bermudez cracks the list at No. 10.
Will Guida’s relentless pace and wrestling overwhelm Bermudez, or will the submission-hunting wrestler overpower “The Caveman” on the ground?
