UFC President Dana White is so confident that two of the best pound-for-pound fighters in mixed martial arts will meet in the Octagon soon, he named a possible venue and catchweight for the bout during a Tuesday night appearance on “UFC Tonight” (transcription via MMA Fighting).

"If that fight happens, it will probably happen at Dallas, TX stadium," said White. Cowboys stadium has the capacity to hold 80,000 people; the UFC’s current attendance record is 55,724 for UFC 129 on April 30, 2011 in Toronto.

"I think we're pretty close," said White. "I mean if Georges St-Pierre beats [Carlos] Condit, that could be the next fight."

GSP faces “The Natural Born Killer,” the UFC interim welterweight champion, to unify the belts at UFC 154 on Nov. 17. The bout takes place at St-Pierre’s native Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

White then explained why he feels a 180-pound catchweight is the most logical decision for both competitors.

“At one point it sounded like Anderson wanted to go to 170 and take Georges' welterweight title. That was what he was talking at one point. Then it was 180 as a catchweight, because Georges doesn't want to go to 185, he's going to stay at '70. He said if ‘I had to make the move to go to '85, I'd have to stay at '85.' We figured that a 180-pound catchweight makes sense."

Silva’s camp has been lobbying hard for the fight ever since “The Spider” defeated his arch nemesis, Chael Sonnen, for the second time at UFC 148. While GSP has had little to say on the matter, aside that his main focus right now is Carlos Condit, White insists that “Rush” wants this fight as well.

"These guys want to fight each other now," said White. "I think that, if you're a fighter and you've dominated as long as Anderson has, and been great as long as Georges has, you finally want to say, ‘I want to test this guy, I think I can beat this guy.'"

Widely regarded as the number 1 and 2 best fighters on the planet respectively, Silva has successfully defended his title 10 times, while GSP has defended his belt six times.

St-Pierre has not fought since UFC 129, where he defeated Jake Shields via unanimous decision, due to an ACL injury.

Does this fight really have the potential to happen by mid-2013? Dana White would sure like us to think so.
