Dana White: I Used to Beat the (Expletive) Out of Tito Ortiz

Although he is one of the most dominant champions in company history and a UFC Hall of Famer, its no secret that it was rare Tito Ortiz and UFC President Dana White saw eye-to-eye.

Now that Ortiz is under contract with Bellator, the UFC’s top rival fight promotion in North America, it’s to be expected White is going to spit some verbal venom at his former employee.

In a recent private screening of White’s new reality series “The Fighters,” which depicts the feud between two amateur boxing gyms in South Boston, the UFC’s head honcho blasted Ortiz for allegedly backing out of a planned 2007 boxing match.

“You know what pisses me off the most about that thing? Is I brought in real guys. I brought in heavyweight guys to spar with me for that thing,” White told the media on hand.

“And I got the living s*** punched out of me for four months getting ready for that fight. Real guys. One of the guys, the main guy I sparred with, is fighting this weekend, and he's ranked heavyweight … The reality is I used to beat the living s*** out of Tito Ortiz, back when we first bought this company and we used to box.”

At one point one of the biggest pay-per-view draws in the UFC, Ortiz’s career hit a downward spiral from December 2006 until July 2012 when he retired.

The self-proclaimed “People’s Champion” compiled a horrid 1-7(1) record during that time, though decided to try and make a comeback with Bellator this July.

He was scheduled to debut in November against fellow ex-UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, but pulled out of the bout due to a fractured neck.

Things have since went from bad to worse for Ortiz, as he was arrested for suspicion of a DUI earlier this month and Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney announced he was freezing the fight veteran’s contract until they had a clear idea of when he could fight again.
