Dana White Open to Ben Askren in the UFC One Day, 'Funky' Responds

UFC President Dana White looks like he's finally warming up to having ONE FC welterweight champion Ben Askren compete inside the Octagon one day, despite shooting down the idea late last year.

Askren, who captured the belt when he steamrolled Nobutatsu Suzuki on Saturday, boasts a perfect 14-0 record and has recorded four consecutive stoppage victories  - which seems to have caught White's attention, per MMA Fighting.

"Listen Ben Askren said a lot of stupid s*** (you know) when he left but I don't care about stuff like that. We'll see how the kid fights...We'll go from there," White told Ariel Helwani.

"Contrary to popular belief, well I do hold grudges if you're a real idiot I'll hold a grudge 'til the day I drop dead. But fighters? I don't really do that with fighters ... They're tough guys and this is what they do for a living and they're gonna' say stuff like that."

After Askren was released from his Bellator contract in November - when he was the reigning 170-pound champ -, it seemed academic that the former Olympian would take his talents to the Octagon.

However, White decided he wasn't interested, claiming that Askren didn't have what it takes to hang with the best welterweights in the world.

Instead, Askren signed a six-fight, two-year contract with ONE FC, where he has barely broken a sweat in his first two fights with the company.

Does Askren have what it takes to one day be a UFC champion or would his skillset be easy to pick apart by most of the top 10 welterweights on the UFC roster?
