Green Power Ranger Wants to Fight CM Punk in World Series of Fighting

World Series of Fighting has expressed in interest in ex-WWE heavyweight champion CM Punk and if signed, Jason David Frank - best known as the Green Ranger from “The Might Morphin Power Rangers” – would love to welcome him to the cage.

MMA Fighting reported on Wednesday that WSOF executive Vice President/matchmaker, Ali Abdel-Aziz, was contacted by Frank’s manager about a possible matchup with Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks.

Frank further corroborated the story by asking for a fight with Punk on Instagram.

Roughly two weeks ago, days before Punk decided he did not wish to renew his WWE contract, he spoke with Ariel Helwani about the possibility of competing in MMA.

"I'm 35. I never competed in martial arts, so who's to say if I would be good or not," he said. "I really think there's a chance, but I'm mainly just saying so I can read people talk s*** on message boards."

He then replied "I think so" when asked if he had an itch to fight.

Punk has been a top draw in the WWE since 2008 and has trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu with Rener Gracie since 2009, with Gracie recently stating his 35-year-old student has “no limit” to his potential as an MMA fighter.

Punk’s current WWE contract doesn’t expire until July and has not publicly stated he will not be returning to the company, although the consensus across pro wrestling media outlets is that the charismatic fan favorite will not return.

Meanwhile, Frank is 1-0 as a professional mixed martial artist, also racking up a 3-0 record as an amateur.

However, it’s also worth nothing that the former TV star is now 40 years old and hasn’t fought since August 2010.
