UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones remains one of the biggest major media draws in the UFC.
EA Sports announced on Monday that “Bones” will be on the cover of their UFC video game, which will be released in the spring of next year.
The 26-year-old gave a brief statement in a press release issued by EA Sports.
“It's another one of those surreal moments, one of those moments you just have to step back and pinch yourself and realize I'm not dreaming.”
The New York native was also the first UFC fighter to ever earn an international Nike sponsorship, and is also the first competitor to wear Gatorade gear inside the Octagon.
The top pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC’s rankings is clearly a top draw for the company, a distinction he’s earned by becoming the promotion’s youngest champion ever.
Jones also currently boasts a 10-fight win streak, including eight finishes, and the only blemish on his resume was a controversial disqualification loss to Matt Hamill in December 2009.
A second cover will be released after a four-week fan vote commences, where fans will choose among 16 top contenders and champions to determine who will be the model for the second edition of the game.
The eligible fighters are: Chris Weidman, Georges St-Pierre, Jose Aldo, Dominick Cruz, Demetrious Johnson, Ronda Rousey, Michael Bisping, Daniel Cormier, Junior dos Santos, Urijah Faber, Alexander Gustafsson, Ben Henderson, Johny Hendricks, Chael Sonnen and Miesha Tate.
Voting has commenced for “round 1,” with the finals taking place on November 25.
