Top 10 UFC lightweight Myles Jury says the UFC has offered him his next fight: surging contender Donald Cerrone.
“Fury” explained the situation in a post on mixedmartialarts.com, better known as The Underground.
“I'm getting asked non-stop when I'm fighting next and if it'll be against Donald Cerrone. Just to let you all have a little inside information....,” Jury wrote.
“UFC has contacted my management wanting this fight, fans want the fight, I hear Cerrone wants the fight and we want the fight. Now it's just waiting to see what January date.”
Jury later implored his fans to tweet UFC President Dana White and company CEO/Co-Owner Lorenzo Fertitta to make the matchup happen.
The 25-year-old boasts a perfect 15-0 record inside the cage, including a 6-0 mark under the UFC banner.
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt had a career year in 2014, defeating the original Ultimate Fighter winner Diego Sanchez and former PRIDE lightweight champ Takanori Gomi.
Meanwhile, “Cowboy” is having an even better year: putting together a five-fight win streak and earning the No. 4 spot in the UFC’s official lightweight rankings.
Jury cracks the same list at No. 8.
UFC lightweight titleholder Anthony Pettis defends his belt against Gilbert Melendez at UFC 181 on December 6, so it’s very possible Cerrone vs. Jury could be a title eliminator.
