‘Rampage’ Fined $10,000 for Shoving ‘King Mo’ at Weigh-Ins, Nearly Pulled from Card

After losing a blockbuster main event in Eddie Alvarez vs. Michael Chandler, Bellator 120 nearly lost their new headliner, Quinton Jackson vs. Muhammed Lawler, after “Rampage” shoved his opponent at the event weigh-ins.

MMA Fighting reported Monday night that the former UFC light heavyweight champion was fined $10,000 for losing his cool at the weigh-ins and was nearly removed from the card after cursing out Jon Lewis, the head of the Mississippi Athletic Commission.

"He got very irate and at this point was f-bombing me pretty bad," Lewis told reporter Luke Thomas, explaining that Jackson reacted very unprofessionally after he was informed he would be fined by the commission.

As a result, Lewis said he and the commission seriously considered removing Jackson from the pay-per-view event, but thought better of it after speaking with Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney.

Furthermore, Lewis also stated that he was willing to let bygones be bygones after the 35-year-old slugger apologized at the venue, admitted he deserved the fine.

While a good number of pundits disagreed with the outcome, Jackson ended up defeating Lawal by a close decision, earning a 29-28 mark on all three judges’ scorecards.

Rampage controlled the action on the feet, causing Lawal’s left eye to swell shut, but was also taken down at will for the duration of the 15-minute fight and had virtually no offense on the ground.

Jackson earned a matchup with Bellator light heavyweight champ Emanuel Newton following the victory, but immediately made it known that he’d prefer a rematch with Lawal.

Rebney has already stated he wouldn’t force Jackson into a title bout with Newton, so a part II between Jackson and Lawal seems fairly likely now.
