Ronda Rousey on TUF 18: ‘They Needed a Villain and Made Me Fit the Role’

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey hasn’t been shy about telling anyone willing to listen that she had a horrible experience filming season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter, but she really went off on the subject at a media luncheon on Thursday.

"The experience sucked," Rousey said frankly. "It wasn't the perception. Yeah, they needed a villain and they made me fit the role and that's fine.”

“I wasn't purposely going out of my way on the set to make these things happen. In hindsight it was a s--- experience and it came out terrible for me."

"We were really mistreated and disrespected by the whole production staff," Rousey added. "And everybody was going out of their way to get the most dramatic response possible."

Rousey also stated that the fighters on her rival Miesha Tate’s team would regularly egg her team on when the cameras were off and later claim they were being treated unfairly by the opposition when the film was rolling.

Additionally, “Rowdy” reiterated that she still hasn’t watched a full episode from the season and doesn’t intend to ever do so.

Rousey rematches Tate at UFC 168, which is set for the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 28.

The women’s title clash serves as the pay-per-view event’s co-headliner, with Tate seemingly carrying some momentum heading in to the bout given the fan support she gained from her TUF experience.

The two female competitors first clashed under the Strikeforce banner in March 2012, with Rousey finishing off Tate with her patented armbar in the first round.

Will the second matchup mark a more competitive affair or will we see a repeat of their first encounter?
