Three consecutive first round knockout wins in the UFC’s heavyweight division is practically a money back guarantee these days … unless your Roy Nelson.

The season 10 winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” told Bloody Elbow that while fans love to see him put on a show, the politics involved with title shots will never allow him to wear UFC gold.

“Do I want a shot at the belt? Yes, of course I do. Put it this way, I am Barry Sanders on the Detroit Lions. You love to watch me, but you'll never see me play in the Super Bowl. It's just one of those things. It's about politics. It's not about fighting.”

Nelson has recently disposed of fringe contenders Dave Herman, Matt Mitrione and Cheick Kongo, though has struggled against top contenders like Junior dos Santos and Fabricio Werdum.

The UFC’s heavyweight title picture will become clearer at UFC 160 this Saturday, as dos Santos faces off against Mark Hunt in what seems to be an unofficial number one contender bout.

Additionally, the event is headlined by a rematch between champion Cain Velasquez and challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.

Should JDS and Velasquez emerge victorious, it seems like a forgone conclusion that they would fight each other in a rubber match.

Instead of a top contender, “Big Country” is set to face Stipe Miocic at UFC 161 next month, making it two fights in a roughly seven-week span.
