The Ultimate Fighter season 8 runner-up Vinny Magalhaes successfully returned to the cage last month after an 11-month layoff and it doesn’t appear like the highly-regarded Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is slowing down any time soon.
Magalhaes will now square off with Dustin Jacoby in the co-main event of Titan Fighting Championships 29, according to a report on MMA Fighting.
The Brazilian submission specialist was already set to vie for the vacant Titan FC light heavyweight title against Jason Brilz at Titan FC 30 on September 26.
After six straight finishes on the independent circuit between December 2010 and September 2012, Magalhaes came up short against Phil Davis and Anthony Perosh in his return to the UFC.
He was released by the UFC after the quick knockout loss to Perosh at UFC 163 one year ago.
Magalhaes returned to action inside the cage on July 19, where he submitted Jorge Gonzalez with a rear-naked choke under the Xtreme Kombat banner.
On top of that, Magalhaes has a high-profile grappling match with rising BJJ star Keenan Cornelius at Metamoris 4 this evening.
Will Magalhaes showcase that he still has the ability to hang with the world’s best at 205 pounds or are his best days inside the cage behind him?
